The University of Texas at Austin was founded in 1883 as the main campus of the University of Texas System. It was the first public university in the state and has since grown to become one of the most prestigious educational institutions in the United States. In the first decades of its existence, UT Austin significantly expanded its academic programs and research capabilities. In the 1920s, the university began to receive significant funding from oil revenues, which contributed to its rapid growth and infrastructure development.

Today, UT Austin is one of the leading research universities in the world, with more than 50,000 students and 3,000 faculty members. The university prides itself on its strong programs in business, engineering, law, education, and the sciences.

This campus of the University of Texas is known for its beauty, diversity of architecture, and wealth of opportunities for students. It is located in downtown Austin, which is the cultural and technological center of Texas.

The iconic campus building and symbol of UT Austin is the Main Building (Tower). The 307-foot-high (about 94 meters) tower can be seen from many points in the city and is one of the most famous symbols of the university. There are also other educational buildings, libraries, and research centers. There is a university sports complex, Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium, a huge stadium with a capacity of more than 100,000 spectators, where football matches of the Texas Longhorns team are held.

The infrastructure also includes parks, museums, cultural and entertainment centers, and residential complexes.
